If you’d like to have a jam with us then bring your instrument and/or your voice and talk to us at the door about putting your name down for a shot at three songs on the stage. ABMC has it’s own PA and drum kit and amps for guitar, bass and keyboard.

There are a lot of musicians in Auckland who are keen to play at our jam nights and some nights are busier than others. On a really busy night we may not be able to guarantee everyone a turn on the stage. We recommend you arrive early to make sure yours is one of the first names on the list.

We ask that musicians who play at our jam nights follow a few very simple guidelines such as:

Keep the songs to a blues genre and simple enough so that everyone, of all skill levels, can follow.
Each group of jammers gets three songs. If the crowd is screaming for an encore, by all means give them one more song. If not, do your three and let the next group on.
Keep the volume to a reasonable level. We don't want to deafen the crowd!

Free Admission for club members! $5 on the door for non-members

“I make music to move the body and touch the soul” – Sam Fowles.

Ghost Who Walks is a project started by Sam Fowles, backed by his band that is homegrown in Wellington. Formed from the vibrant jam scene of Wellington open mic nights. Combining elements of Blues, Funk, Rock and Reggae, sprinkled with psychedelic overtones. Ghost Who Walks has rocked many a venue in the Wellington live scene with funky originals that Sam writes from the perspective of someone who has seen struggles, overcome and risen above them. This is a lyrical style the listener can relate to. “With relatable lyrics of creating your own destiny, a listener can resonate more with that kind of lyrical sensibility. This is music that makes you feel.”- Muzic.net.nz

The Frank Burkitt Band

Wednesday 30th January | 8pm
Cafe One 2 One
121 Ponsonby Road, Auckland
All Ages

The Frank Burkitt Band return to Auckland as part of their 30 date 'Lost but Alive' NZ Tour.

Frank is a storyteller, songwriter, singer and guitarist. In that order. His rambling anecdotes aim to give the audience more of a connection with his songs. A folk songwriter at his core, American roots music with hints of jazz, blues and swing very much shape his music.

When he relocated to Wellington from Edinburgh with his partner and backing vocalist Kara Filbey, he formed The Frank Burkitt Band, with blues and country mandolin player Cameron Burnell and jazz double bassist James Geluk. This mix of styles and genres gives their show unique variety, alongside tight knit harmonies and well crafted arrangements.

2019 will see The Frank Burkitt Band embark on the longest tour of their lives. From January - June, they intend to take their music all around New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Yes, they are quite ambitious and slightly unhinged. They will be releasing a new live EP to coincide with their touring adventures.

Shakey Graves

Wednesday 24th April | 8pm
The Powerstation
33-35 Mt Eden Road, Eden Terrace

One Auckland Date Announced for Americana singer-songwriter from Texas
Tickets on sale 10am Friday 16 November from AAA Ticketing
Shakey Graves a.k.a Alejandro Rose-Garcia was born in Austin Texas to a musical family and is best-known for playing a smoky, spectral fusion of blues, folk and rock in a stripped down one-man-band style.
Shakey Graves live performances can be deceiving. Up to now, he’s been categorised as an Americana singer-songwriter, thanks to his traditionally rooted songs, fluent acoustic-guitar picking, Texas roots and cowboy hat, looking like a one-man country band. But the tag will undoubtedly be dismissed as restrictive and irrelevant once discerning listeners hear his radical new album performed live in Auckland next April.
Back in December 2017, Shakey Graves proclaimed on his Twitter page, “Next album. New sound. Sell your suspenders.” The tweet was tongue-in-cheek, but Alejandro Rose-Garcia, the Austin native who’s been plying his trade as Shakey Graves since 2007, was making a dead-serious point about his latest album, Can’t Wake Up. This ambitious, audacious work heralds an artistic metamorphosis for the 30-year-old veteran, whose risk-taking in painting outside the lines has been rewarded tenfold. “This record is the most I’ve ever intentionally worked on a project, musically speaking, in terms of the scope of it and how much thought went into it,” he says. “It’s a dense album; there’s a lot of information going on.”
Known for his interactions with the fans during the show, we’re looking forward to seeing Shakey Graves live in Auckland this April!
